Power Generation & Distribution

Khartoum North phase II

The project featuring: -

  • Two 67 Kg /sec oil fired boilers operating at 87 bars 510 deg. C.

  • Two 60 MW condensing steam turbine generators.

  • Substation

  • Associated electrical plant.

  • Control and instrumentation.

This project now, commissioned and providing the main thermal power supply on the National Grid.

Merowe Dam Project 

TEC is a sub consultant to Mott Macdonald in the Sudan. Mott MacDonald is awarded a contract by Merowe Dam Project Implementation Unit, which consists of preparation of revised tender documents for the implementation of Merowe Dam. Mott MacDonald award TEC a sub consultancy contract to carry out the under mentioned detailed works.

Contract 1 – Infrastructure Works

A-               Road from Karima to Merowe dam: complete re-design and preparation of tender documents, including survey & Geotechnical investigation. A tender design report shall be prepared prior to tender documents.

B-                Township: determination of location of township, revised layout to take account of larger plot sizes now required (including the use of the services of a town planner) review and redesign of houses, addition of power, water and sewage disposal services, preparation of tender document. Town layout and design must reflect modern international experiences and house design to respond to local traditions. Tender documents to cover full size of the township, but with phased construction.

C-                Rail trans-shipment facility at Karima: preparation of tender design & tender documents and provide for a gantry crane of suitable capacity for loading and offloading.

D-               Power supply to township- included in township tender document

E-                Water supply and waste water treatment – included in township tender documents

Hydro & Civil

The Water Work and Boreholes for the National Urban Water Corporation.

  •  The Supervision of erection of most of the water work and boreholes for the National Urban Water Corporation.

  •  Supervision and administration of construction of all new water works and extensions for existing water facilities such as Khartoum North New Water Works:

                                        Phase II.                        Capacity 36,000   cu.m/day .
                                       Phase III,                       Capacity 56,000   cu.m./day.

  • Participation in preparation of tender specifications for new projects, tender analysis and award of contract.

The Design and Construction Building of Al Sayed flourmills-complex

        The Design of a 5-storey building flourmill plant, the scope of work has included detail design, production of construction drawings, site construction and management, and liasing with a Chinese main plants supplier; the project has finished in time and to the satisfaction of the client.   The project cost is 1.5 Million US$.

Al kawther Hotel

Al Kawther hotel is a three stars hotel located by the river Nile in Shendi-Sudan.The hotel comprise of 5 story main building.

TEC role include-

  • Detail design of the building

  •  Design of the surrounding landscape

  • Design of electrical installation

  • Procurement of the construction material

  •  Supervision of skilled, semi skilled and unskilled labours.

  •  Erection of 1.0MW diesel generator.

Port Sudan SMA wheat silos

The engineering Circle has been developing a good relationship with the SMA group one of the main importer/exporters of the grain in Sudan. The civil department has been working as a design and build Engineer for SMA mainly developing one of the biggest silos facility at Port Sudan.  The site consist of 16 silos 5000 Ton each. The engineering circle was responsible for the Civil & Structural design, Construction, Supervision of erection and commissioning.

 Red sea flour mills complex 700 tons/day

This is the largest flourmill in terms of capacity in Sudan.  It is located in Port Sudan in a reclaimed land from the Red Sea. Buhler a Swiss company supplies the machines.  The complex comprises of: 
  • Main machines building 48.0m high, multi-story building eleven floors.
  • Wheat, Flour and bran bins, twenty concrete bins. The total height of bins is 40.0m.
  • Flour warehouse. Total area is 4000 square meter.
  • Bran warehouse. Total area is 1000 square meter.
  • Powerhouse shed. Also include generator foundations, 3MW.
  • Concrete roads around the complex

Red Sea flour mills new extension 300 Tons/day

Based on the success that TEC achieved in the Red sea flourmills, TEC has been appointed as the turnkey contractor for the red sea flourmills extension.  The extension is now under construction. TEC involvements are the same as in the first stage.

Planning & Studies

Private Jetty 

The Engineering Circle has been helping SMA with the last phase of developing Port Sudan wheat and flour site, by providing assistance on the studies for the private jetty for ships to load and unload.  The jetty will handle 50,000MT Vessel.

The current economical development in Sudan has been accompanied by a move to industrial investment, The Engineering Circle has found its Engineering expertise are very useful in the field of developing the industrial plants, from the mid nineties The department has been expanding rapidly using expatriates from the power generation and civil department. The industrial department has been busy carrying out feasibility studies and investigating the build of new industries. The department has been working with reliable clients like SMA, Northern Soap  Factories, Alsyed mills, and others.

The industrial department has been having especial attention from The Engineering Circle board.

The industrial department executive staff is a selection of ex-senior employees of NEC, National Urban Water Corporation (NUWC), university lecturers and Engineers who have been involved in the small industry in Sudan for many years.

Al Shiekh Mustafa Al amin complex Port Sudan

Al Sheikh Mustafa Al Amin Complex is located in Port Sudan. It is a complex of industrial factories. The installation of electrical power in the complex. the total installed power is 5.7 MW.
